Bringer of Abundance

Landorus I

I HAD ANOTHER HIATUS! WHAT A SHOCKER! this is becoming a problem for me. Anyways, happy new years! Since this new year is the year of the Rat, I was gonna do a rat pokemon, but as it turns out, most rat pokemon are garbage. So, since rats represent abundance, the pokemon Landorus is the best fit. Landorus is the Ground/Flying-type legendary pokemon of abundance.

First, as always, we begin with Lore. Long, long ago, there were two evil spirits terrorizing the lands. Tornadus, the spirit of wind and cyclones, and Thunderus, the spirit of Lightning and Storms. The two fought over territory all throughout Unova. Their clash caused massive trouble for the people of the region, as their battles whipped up vicious cyclones and raging thunderstorms, destroying homes and crops. Landorus, the spirit of the land and abundance, would not take the two terrorizing his home any longer. Landorus engaged the two brawling pokemon, managing to drive them away, but sustaining a grave injury in the process. The people of Unova nursed the spirit back to health, and in return for the humans saving his life, Landorus granted bountiful crops to the people, giving it the name of “The Abundance Pokemon”. Landorus, as well as the other two spirits, are theorized to come from the Interdream Zone, the border between the land of Dreams and the Real World. In these places, they take on what some believe to be their most true forms. These are called “Therian Forms”. Here is Landorus’s Therian Form: Landorus T

In his Therian Form, Landorus appears as a lion-like creature. In this form, however, Landorus is more aggressive and brutal, acting more like a hyper-intelligent wild animal than the civilized being Landorus is most often known as. It is my personal headcanon (WHICH MEANS FANFICTION ALERT) that Landorus was in this form at first, but after meeting kind humans, adopted a form more similar to that of humanity, so that it may preserve the dream of humanity. Meanwhile, the other two trickster spirits also adopted a form similar to humanity, but to mock them, mirroring the vices of sinful humans. (FANFICTION OVER).

For battle prowess, Landorus is one of the toughest pokemon you can have on your side. In its base form (known as Incarnate Form), Landorus possesses more balanced stats. Additionally, he has the powerful ability of Sand Force, giving Landorus a massive boost to damage while in a Sandstorm. In his Therian Form, his stats are more geared towards offense and speed, making him stronger, but a bit frailer. Also in this form, Landorus swaps out his Sand Force ability for Intimidate, spooking a foe when it enters battle into weakening their attack. In both forms, Landorus is a versatile threat that can fit most situations and handle foes especially well. His biggest weakness is Ice, so be careful of that.

For style, Landorus is a very, very good pokemon with a flaw or two. Landorus alone has a pretty dang stylish appearance, taking the form of a muscular human with a long tail seemingly made of a flexible sort of stone, resting inside a cloud. Landorus’s Incarnate form, however, is mostly a pallet swap of the other two Spirits with a different tail. However, in Therian Form, Landorus looks amazing. I love the idea of a flying earth lion. The world is a better place for it.

For lore, Landorus gets a 9 out of 10, as compared to legendaries like Reshiram and Zekrom he’s nothing godlike, but it is still some great and surprisingly wholesome lore. For Battle Prowess, I’m giving Landorus a 9 out of 10, as it would get a 10 out of 10 if it weren’t for its massive weakness to Ice.  For style, it gets a 7 out of 10, as although it looks great, in the end, his base form is a pallet swap. For my overall enjoyment, it gets a 9 out of 10 as I adore this pokemon! Also, you may have noticed I referred to Landorus with Male Pronouns, and that’s because Landorus is always Male in the games, alongside the other Spirits. Happy New Year, and hopefully the 2020s will be amazing!
