Mister Pokemon here with another Pokemon Review! Today we’re looking at Arbok, the OG snake pokemon. This is a classic, being from the original pokemon games and being exclusive to Pokemon Red Version. Let’s get it on!
For lore, there’s not a whole lot to sink your teeth into. It supposedly has over 20 different belly patterns (though the one pictured above id the only one to be featured in the games), and it squeezes its prey real hard to kill them! It can supposedly flatten an oil drum with its constriction.
For style, it’s a cobra with an admittedly cool belly pattern. It’s simple, yet effective. It’s a basic design, with the signature Poison Purple coloring, those classic Gen 1 triangle eyes and and a cool belly pattern. I like it, but there’s not a lot going on.
For battle prowess………. nah. It has a pretty low base stat total at 448, and the only really good moves it learns are Earthquake and Sludge Bomb, which are excellent moves, but aren’t enough to carry a pokemon all on their own. It’s not a bombshell, I’ll put it that way.
For lore, I’m giving it a 5 out of 10 as it isn’t to intriguing, but the many patterns and strength of its constriction is cool. For style, I’m giving it a 7 out of 10 as it really isn’t anything special, but it’s super cool with what it has. For battle prowess, I’m giving it a 4 out of 10 as there is really no reason to choose this pokemon over stronger Poison types. For my personal rating, I’m giving it a humble 6 out of 10. Not incredible, not earth shattering, not even really all that amazing, but it’s a cool Gen 1 pokemon that you can love. Also I would be committing a crime if I didn’t bring up it being Jessie’s signature pokemon for 3 whole seasons! So it’s memorable for that.
